How can parents obtain a work permit for minors since schools and school board office  are closed?

Employers desiring to obtain an Employment Certificate pursuant to this memorandum must submit a completed and signed “Application to Employ Minors under 18” along with proof of age to  The application can be downloaded from the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s website or by copying and pasting the following web address into your web browser:  Incomplete applications will not be processed. Employers should allow three (3) days for processing. Louisiana Workforce Commission will be issuing sixty day blanket Employment Certificates for employers once approved. 


How will students make up missed time?
As per the Governor’s proclamation on March 13, 2020, the required amount of instructional minutes have been suspended. The district will continue to work with the LDOE to determine if any make-up time will be needed. Currently, we do not anticipate any extension of the school year.

Will LEAP testing be rescheduled?
According to the Louisiana Department of Education, there has not been any statewide waivers of assessment requirements released by the U.S. Department of Education. At this time, the LDOE anticipates that state testing will take place.

  • Spring 2020 assessment windows for grades 3-8 LEAP 2025 will begin no earlier than April 27, 2020.
  • The high school assessment window currently remains unchanged.
